A painting built from rough layers of colour, quick decisions, and marks that were left visible rather than corrected away.
I liked the contrast between the formal black tie and the loose, awkward pose. The figure seems both confident and uncertain at the same time, as if she is trying out different versions of herself to see which one fits.
I wanted the rough paint, drips, and interruptions to remain visible. They carry the energy of the painting as much as the figure itself.
